And So, We Let the Tears of Our Grief Wash Over Our Bodies

“And So, We Let the Tears of Our Grief Wash Over Our Bodies”(Premiered on Aug. 14, 2024), 4-channel interactive audio-visual installation

In this piece, I wanted to explore generative music as a collective practice for healing through Solfeggio frequencies. I’ve been very disturbed by all the horrible events that have been taking place around the world and have been finding ways to be present with my grief without numbing it. The death and destruction of our own species is one that we should not take lightly, and will continue to be felt in our collective consciousness. This piece is for us to give permission to ourselves to feel this collective grief and trauma, and to process it together in solidarity through reflection and water. Water is a sacred element because it represents the fluidity and flow of nature. By allowing ourselves to cry, we can learn to let go of the pain and take action against the oppressive forces of capitalism and imperialism.Created with the help and support of NYU's Interactive Media Arts Low Residency Program.

Materials used: Laser-etched mirror acrylic panels, 3D printed Tough TPU chains, Optoma projectors, Person Sensor, Arduino Nano, Kiddie Pool, Bastl Softpop II (for sound design)
