YESTERDAY, I BECAME A CYBORG (4m, 47s) is a five-part series of diary entries and analog film photography, shot by Ross Kelly, that delves into the porous and fluid boundaries between human and machine. Drawing inspiration from Donna Haraway's A Cyborg Manifesto, the work challenges the binary oppositions of human versus machine, nature versus culture, and self versus other. Weaving together intimate narratives and visual fragments, the series embodies the cyborg as both a metaphor and a lived reality, questioning the essence of identity in a post-human age – one that rejects previous attempts to establish "anthropological universals" that are imbued with anthropocentric assumptions. This project premiered at the Fugitive Sisters Film Festival at Cannes Film Festival 2024.
